  1. Face masks are actually the most important piece of safety equipment that you are going to need to wear while playing Airsoft. In fact, all Airsoft fields that you play at are going to require you to wear this type of protective gear, which is why you should make sure that you choose a good face mask. Remember that the main objective of your face mask is to protect your eyes, face and ears from injury. You will find that there are many different types of masks available on the market for Airsoft. Some of them even include accessories such as visors and built in fans, which you do not have to have even though they are nice. What you do need to have is a face mask that fits you really good so that you can avoid getting such things as blisters and abrasions whenever you get knocked around. Your face mask should also give you good vision and offer you an expanded peripheral viewing field.
  2. Neck and chest protectors are not going to be required to be worn at a lot of the places where you play Airsoft, nevertheless it is still a good idea to wear them. This will keep you from getting nasty bruises in sensitive areas, such as your neck, whenever you are shot at close range.
  3. Knee and shin protectors are really helpful if you like to kneel down a lot whenever you are shooting at a target. These will not only protect your knees whenever you are kneeling down on hard surfaces such as concrete and gravel, but they will also protect your shins if they should happen to get shot at. This is important because if you take a shot directly to your shin bone you will have some major bruising.
  4. Barrel plugs should be used whenever you are not playing Airsoft so that you can prevent your gun from accidentally firing.

Just as with any other sport that you may play, Airsoft is a relatively safe game if you are willing to take some minor precautions to ensure that neither you or anyone that you are playing with is injured while you are having fun. In the same way that you would probably never think about standing in a football lineup without wearing a helmet and the proper protective pads, you should never play Airsoft without having the proper safety equipment to wear.
